What is laser cutting technology?
Laser cutting is a method of converting a 2D file into a physical object.
This technology can be applied on various metals, such as titanium, aluminum or stainless steel.
Laser cutting involves cutting the material with a highly accurate laser that focuses on a small area of the material.
The laser beam is directed at the material where it is to be cut.
It can cut up to 40 mm thick. There are different types of lasers which can be pulsed or continuous.
At Service Steelparts we use continuous laser machines that can cut all types of metals at a higher speed than pulsed laser machines.
Laser cutting is possible by creating a 2D vector file. You can create 2D files using vector graphics software.
This file provides information to the laser cutter that will cut the selected metal.
You do not need to have high design skills to use laser cutting.
Advantages
of laser cutting
This method of cutting involves the use of a powerful laser beam with computer guidance to precisely cut the base materials. With no wear on the laser beam, cutting is consistent and incredibly accurate. There is less risk of contamination due to the lack of a cutting edge, and with minimal heat affected zones (HAZ) the structural integrity of the metal remains intact.
The precision of our suppliers is state-of-the-art laser cutting machines allows the cutting of very complex shapes and smaller holes to excellent tolerances. With the ability to laser engrave hole positions and bend lines in multiple facilities with up to 20 kW of power, Service Steelparts can confidently provide fast turnaround times on even the largest projects.

Laser cutting is such a flexible manufacturing process that it’s difficult to make a comprehensive list, but here are just a few.
Precision, accuracy and quality
Precision, accuracy and quality
Among the most important arguments of laser cutting are the precision and quality of laser parts. The use of suitable cutting gases, precise laser beam aiming, high power density and high cutting speed allow extremely precise contour accuracy of ± 0.01 mm, accurate, almost rectangular cutting edges and clean cutting surfaces.
Depending on the material thickness, narrow cutting gaps (slots) of 0.03 mm are also possible. Unlike competing cutting processes, laser cutting does not involve contact between the cutting tool and the workpiece. The laser beam processes the material without contact and with low heat load.
In addition, laser cutting is characterised by the excellent quality of the workpieces produced. The laser beam of laser cutting systems is focused so strongly that the notch is only slightly larger than the laser beam itself. This allows the finest geometric shapes to be produced and duplicated with tolerances of ± 0.1 millimeters. During laser cutting, the cutting edges are so clean that often no post-processing is necessary.
Modern logistics of procurement
As an online manufacturer with a network of over 2,000 manufacturing partners, Service Steelparts has access to virtually unlimited capacity to produce all types of custom parts, thus securing your supply chains.
With the help of machine learning algorithms, we find the optimal manufacturer in terms of quality, price and delivery time for each of your projects – from prototype to series production.
Service Steelparts is the only contracted partner and point of contact throughout the duration of the project and takes full responsibility for on-time delivery and quality of parts.
At Service Steelparts, we work with proven partners and have a vast network of suppliers. Our partners have state-of-the-art equipment, which ensures consistently available capacity for our customers. As a professional digital manufacturer in the machining sector, Service Steelparts knows what the high expectations are for a modern service provider.
Delivery time, production and service
The regular average delivery time for ordered laser cut parts is normally 15-20 working days. As an express service, it can also be faster at 9-12 working days. With the super express service, parts are delivered even faster within 72 hours.
If for capacity reasons or due to infrequent special requests orders are outsourced, only qualified suppliers are used. Service Steelparts regularly subjects its partners to demanding quality checks.
Quality assurance also includes checking each order individually for all customer-specific manufacturing tolerances and quality characteristics prior to shipment. Service Steelparts always remains the first and only point of contact for the customer.
The customer receives their parts with the highest precision, speed and quality from a single source. This applies to all production and service stages of laser cutting. Service Steelparts employees are happy to clarify any queries or special requirements at short notice via email, chat or telephone.
